Who is it for?
Starting with Strength is perfect for those new to strength work and those looking for a refresher and/or a program they can easily do at home. If you feel unsure where to start or worried about causing injuries, you'll feel supported and confident during this program!
Prerequisites: Relatively comfortable getting up and down off the floor. Even if getting yourself up and down off the floor doesn't feel smooth or takes some time for you, you'll still be ok for the program.
What You'll Need:
The program can be done with or without weights. Some people start it without weights to ensure they are comfortable with the moves and then repeat the program adding light weights.
If you are adding weights, it will depend on your strength capacity. If you're unsure, you can start with light 1-5 lb weights. Household objects also work as weights- soup cans, jugs of laundry detergent or whatever you have lying around! You'll also need a resistance band.
YES to sustainable strength training. I struggle to get this into my life but Iove this! I'm traveling for work and I just filled up two water bottles to use as weights. It was perfect.
Program Outline
Starting with Strength builds your capacity, knowledge and confidence in how you move, building functional strength for your whole body.
- 30 day program to build a new habit of strength to improve the quality of your life and daily activities.
- Each class is 30 minutes or less to make it easy to fit into a busy schedule.
- 3 classes per week for 4 weeks. You also have the option to repeat the classes during the week if you have more time and it feels supportive for you.
- Each class focuses on a specific body part like your hips or shoulders while also incorporating whole-body movements.
- Repeat the program as many times as you like for continued benefits.
